THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION MEASURES AGAINST COVID-19
The graphic summarises all the measures proposed by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to deal with the coronavirus crisis. These measures aim to ensure an adequate supply of protective equipment and medical supplies throughout Europe, cushion the blow to the economy and businesses, invest in research, provide Member states with a coherent set of guidelines, temporarily restrict non-essential travel, facilitate the purchase of health-related equipment and capital goods and activate the Commission's crisis coordination mechanism.
The Commission has also set up a Policy Response Coordination Team, composed of the Commissioners responsible for the sectors most concerned: Margrethe Vestager for digital issues, Valdis Dombrovskis for economic issues, Paolo Gentiloni for macroeconomic aspects, Thierry Breton for the internal market, Stella Kyriakides for health and food safety, Janez Lenarčič for crisis management, Ylva Johansson for border issues as Commissioner for Home Affairs, and Adina Vălean for mobility.
